Native MCP

Browser control is built into Chromium itself. Agents read pages, click, type and manage tabs without a debugging port or extension.

Signed and notarized

Every build is code-signed and notarized by Apple, and published with a SHA-256 checksum you can verify.

Updates itself

Helium checks this site's Sparkle feed and installs new releases automatically, with EdDSA-signed updates.

Bookmark sync

Optional: choose Turn On Bookmark Sync in the profile menu to sync a profile's bookmarks through Helium Sync. Only bookmarks are synced.

Connect your agent

Helium ships a stdio MCP server at Helium.app/Contents/Helpers/helium-mcp-stdio. Keep Helium open, then register that helper with your client. The examples assume Helium is in /Applications; use the full absolute path, not ~, if you installed it elsewhere.

OpenCode

Add a local server to ~/.config/opencode/opencode.json, or to opencode.json in a project.

Claude Code

Register it for every project with --scope user, then check that it connects.

Add it from the CLI, or edit ~/.codex/config.toml directly.

Pi

Add a user-level server, which Pi stores in ~/.pi/agent/mcp.json, then check the connection.

In a running session, use /reload to pick it up and /mcp to inspect it.

The helper connects to your Default profile. To drive another profile, pass --profile "Work" (its name or directory) after the helper path, and add one server entry per profile. Any local client that can start the helper gets full control of the browser, so connect only agents you trust.
